In my natural habitat

Ready to do this thing?

The way you do anything is the way you do everything.

That’s important to me.

I’ve lived several lives (not in the reincarnation way as far as I know). A perfectly beautiful storm of life’s adventures and opportunities has culminated into a seasoned, thoughtful approach to my writing.

I doubt you’re here to read a novel (I’m working on it, though), so here are some highlights…

I worked with children, teens, and their families as both an “on the front lines” staff and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in high-level treatment settings for 14 years.

This is where I initially honed my writing skills with a forensic psychologist as my first mentor and supervisor – I learned that my words would have a lasting impact on kids and their families potentially forever (think court reports and such).

While your content needs may not hold this level of gravity, I take what I put into writing just as seriously and approach it with the same level of integrity.

I used to own and run a coffee shop in Santa Cruz, California, and have had my hand in several different businesses over the years.

I understand what it means to pour yourself into making a vision soar.

I’m a completely single mom to a bright and beautiful (seven-year-old) baby girl.

I have a lot of skin in the game when it comes to what I do for you. By consistently delivering incredible work, I’m showing up for all of us.

I’ve been certified in Equine Assisted Learning and Therapy…

…and have spent the last six years living on a 40-acre horse ranch caring for about 40 equine friends (more on why this is a thing below).

I love copywriting and the written word.

It’s also a vehicle for manifesting my lifelong dream of having my own equine rescue program (horses and humans). It’s in the works, and as part of this journey, I currently support this amazing organization, Horse ReCourse.

Just another compelling reason to pursue what I do for you with dedication and commitment.

I’ve been writing and marketing online since 2013…

“Laura was like a diamond to me in our collaboration: without bothering me with many questions, she always knew what would be in my favor and prepared everything accordingly. Still in such a way that I could have vetoed, but also in such a way that all I had to say was "Confirmed." Punctual, reliable, humble, without a false ego, sincere, with integrity - just a diamond."

“Laura helped me understand how content marketing can play a major role in the growth of my business. I’m proud to share the blog posts she wrote for my website, and she’s helped establish my online presence as a brick-and-mortar business. I know I can rely on her 100% when it comes to content and marketing needs in my business and I’m so glad she’s on my team.”

…And full-time with freelance writing and copywriting since 2017. Relevant, but not terribly exciting. That’s why it’s down here.

I’ve spent a portion of my freelance journey as a Virtual Assistant (with a focus on content services).

This provided me the opportunity to serve and learn about a variety of businesses.

What did they all have in common? They were all created and run by incredible human beings doing amazing things through their vision to serve their audiences.

I’m an athlete and have been for over 35 years.

Once upon a time I was ranked #1 in the state of California and #12 in the nation for my college sport (crew) and attended the Olympic Training Center in San Diego, California. Discipline is my thing, and I apply it to every aspect of my life.

I’m a former fitness competitor.

I left off with a first-place win at my last competition in 2013 (here’s to ending on a high note). Sparkly bikinis and five-inch heels aside, see above re: discipline, baby.

My superpower is capturing brand voice and connecting with an audience. My background as a licensed therapist was a great opportunity to hone my intuition and I’m really good at listening… one of the most important things you can do as a copywriter in my opinion.

Laura Nicholls Copywriter

I’m excited about thought leadership and talking about things in a way that others aren’t… or about things they’re not talking about at all.

What does this all mean for you? That I’m going to do more than just turn out excellent, on-point copy for you. I’m going to take a strategic, thoughtful approach to it and when you work with me you’ll know I’ve got you.
